Things and stuff I might find useful. This list makes me seem like a greedy mofo. Not trying to be, just pointing out ideas for gifts to folks who might have trouble deciding.
- Solar panels and parts for a solar system. I'd love to add a tiny system to the element, a larger system to the trailer. There's also batteries, controllers, chargers, etc.
- I like cast iron. Anything rusty is fine but don't overpay for rust. I stay away from modern lodge - bumpy surface and very visible logos. Not great stuff. But that said, any footed dutch ovens, even Lodge are welcome. I have one footed dutch oven. I'd take more. Skillets, particular snack skillets and chicken fryers with or without lids, nice. Regular dutch ovens are nice. I'm not hung up on brands at all otherwise. Not so much into cornbread pans, but I'll clean em up and resell em if you can find em cheap. I also like cast aluminum, where some folks don't. A cast iron kettle or cauldron? For a huge stew/soup? Beautiful.
- I own a metal typer token printer, but it's broken. I need to fix it. I also will need more tokens. There seems to be one supplier in the world - in Colorado.
- I have been enjoying other typer type devices - but not typewriters. I'm not falling down that rabbit hole. But stencil makers are really cool. I own an Ideal No. 3 model that works well, but I need to clean up. Also dog tag printers or machines that print letters or cut letters... heck, even Lettering Sets by K&E and other vendors are wicked interesting. Those can be had cheaply from ebay. I don't own any lettering sets yet.
- In the same vein, Metal stamps. They make impressions upon metal and other objects with the whack of a hammer or mallet. I have a wonderful set of vintage 1/8" letters and numbers. I'm happy to find other sizes with letters and numbers. Vintage is preferred, due to the quality of the metal typically used.
- I take a size 10 muck boot. I don't have a pair. I'd like a pair. Simple over the calf boot
My plex server needs updating. I want a refurb Mac Mini to do so. Anything 2018 or newer is helpful. Third party is fine.i. Okay, so THAT got ordered. MacMini will work fine. Huge storage like the line below could be nice though.
- I also would enjoy 4 port HDHomeRun TV tuner devices. I own one. Another one or two might be useful. SiliconDust HDHomeRun Flex Quattro is the model I have
- I always am happy to receive working large hard drives. Right now, nothing smaller than Four (4) Terabyte size. I could also make use of someone's old Drobo or NAS device. To be honest, hard drives of 10TB or better are most useful.
- The OutEquipPro rooftop air conditioner is a device I want to put on the trailer. Yes, with heating element.
- A double bit hatchet - used is best. Heck, even a hatchet head would be fine, as I can install a handle easily enough. Not an axe. I have a double bit axe already
- A GeekAire rechargeable fan, or two. They seem extraordinarily useful. Larger is better. Not misting.
- If anyone comes across a Chrysler Bell Victory Siren, I promise I will be a kind of sort of responsible owner of such a thing. But I would repair it and make a nuisance of myself.
- One of those illuminated swing arm magnifier light thingies? Those are nice. While the old school ones that used to be everywhere in surplus auctions are cool, they're also bound to be using incandescent bulbs that are likely hard AF to find. So, modern LED would be nice. But yeah, my eyes have always sucked - I need to magnify things
- I like old knives... like an old beat up knife for cheap at a yard sale? Not a pocketknife, but a straight bladed knife, or a cleaver. Things like that.
- T-shirts. prefer v-necks. varieties of colors. Size XL. Cotton. No logos... just plain
- Gasoline fuel cans. That red metal jerry can type. One would be nice. Mounting kits are great as well. I could use one or two mounting kits.
- Foldable pail/dish pan/bowls for camping - silicone collapsing ones
- A hand turned shaving brush? Yeah. Wood. Or wood and something.
- A later model Honda Ridgeline pickup?
- A rolling tool box. Even second hand, these can cost some dollars. I have one, but it's not in the best condition, so I don't use it as much.
- I really have enjoyed playing RDR2. IYKYK. Nostalgic pieces from that game are cool. Like, a Lanik Electric Company shirt... Bastille Saloon, Saint Denis... Doyle's TAvern in saint denis... I know folks make such things - they're subtle nods to the game. I enjoy seeing them and wouldn't mind wearing them.
- A come-along. Handy to have. Two ton or better
- Lishi lock picks are nifty. I have the one for Honda already.
- A long handle framing hammer. Chances are, I'll find this one myself as it becomes a priority this coming year
- Addressograph makes some machines that smash letters into things.
- Dymo lettertape machines are cool. And the tapes are necessary to make them work.
Things I collect. Where generically named, assume it's a scout thing
- Schiff Scout Reservation
- 1981 National Jamboree
- 1985 National Jamboree
- Allamakewink, Lodge #54, Order of the Arrow
- Morris Sussex Area Council
- Scout neckerchiefs with camp maps on them
- Camp Ken-Etiwa-Pec - but I'm very casual about this collection, as it's not my primary. I very much enjoy the history of the camp and it's closure due to the Tock's Island Dam project - which got cancelled. Sadly, the scouts were not returned the land that was taken via eminent domain - a long standing tradition of our government
- Max Silber belt buckles - I own a woodbadge one already
- Erie Lackawanna railroadiana is an interest, but I have none. It's one the nicest rail liveries I've seen
- Arcade tokens. Variety of token is important. Given my penchant for loving arcades, arcade tokens are a fun collection.
- Arcade tickets
My current Goodwill Hunting list
- BluRay player w/HDMI out. Nice if it had optical audio out
